After the hour is up, remove from the water, remove the spoon, and carefully open it up, then place on a shelf inside down, and carefully press it out. Do not press on the center, try to press it evenly so no part is buckling backwards, this will cause it to crack. |

Once you have coaxed the piece of gourd flat, place on an oven rack, hard side up. Put your heavy pan of water on top if it to hold it flat, and put the oven on warm. NOTICE: make sure the wire rack is under the edges, or they will most likely curl on you. |

After a couple hours or so, check it. If the bottom side is dry, then flip the piece of gourd over, and replace the pan, and dry the hard side. |

Once complete, you will have nearly flat pieces of gourd. Do not turn the oven temp on too high for drying, as this can make the gourd piece brittle. |
